Data Management: Too much to handle?

Everything is not the same, especially with your applications and their data. So why are you treating it the same? Instead of simply using new technology such as cloud, software-defined, data lakes, SSD and virtualization among others in old ways (e.g. another place to stockpile data), start using in new ways. Key to using new and old things in new ways is understand your data value, no value get rid of it, some or high value protect it properly, unknown value, park it on a lower cost to protect, preserve, secure and serve type of storage until you know its value (or delete it).
